MES clinch top honours in inter-school girls tourney

MES Indian School registered a 51-run victory over Al Khor International School in the Qatar Cricket Association(QCA) inter-school girls cricket tournament 2009 at the QCA West Bay cricket ground.

Batting first, MES’2’ Indian School team Piled up 121 in their allotted 17 overs. Openers Ishaani Mittal and Aisha Mohammad made 51 and 40 runs respectively.

In reply, Al Khor International School were restricted to 70 for seven in their allotted 17 overs. Bhavana(25) and Rishika Reddy(17) were the main scorers. For MES-2, Ayesha took two wickets. Anjali and Akansha claimed one wicket each.

The participating schools were Pak Sharma School & College, Al Khor International School, MES Indian School, DPS-Modern Indian School, Birla Public School, Shantiniketan Indian School, Pakistan Education Cetre and Park House English School. At the prize distribution ceremony held at Retaj Hotel, QCA president Muhammad Aslam Shahid and general secretary Manzoor Ahmed handed over the QCA champions trophy to MES ‘2’ team captain IShanni Mittal and the runner-up trophy to Rishika reddy, captain of Al Khor International School. Women’s Cricket Committee members and school officials were present at the ceremony. Muhammad Imran, Office manager, Qatar Cricket Association conducted the ceremony.
