Qatari Diar clinch Manzoor Ahmed Cup
QATARI Diar beat Qtel by seven wickets in the Division-B final of the Manzoor Ahmed Cup, sponsored by ARUP, a leading international engineering and consulting firm and organized by the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA). Twenty eight teams took part in the event.
Batting first Qtel scored 186 in their allotted 40 overs, a fine 60 by Khalid setting the foundation for the score. Rohan (18) and Imraz (20) were the other main scorers, while for Qatari Diar, Imran claimed three wickets.
In reply, Qatari Diar raced to their rain-ravised target of 117 in 25 overs with Allah Ditta and Mannan Malik scoring 41 and 39 respectively.
Allah Ditta was named the man of the match for Qatari Diar for his 41 runs and one wicket.
Con Strydum, associate director of ARUP, handed over the Manzoor Ahmed Cup to Qatari Diar captain Omran Hussain and the runner-up trophy to Qtel captain Sajid.
QCA officials Manzoor Ahmed (general secretary), Malik Nazar Mohamed (technical adviser) Gul Khan Jadoon (head of domestic cricket) and other members of management committee of Qatar Cricket Association were present on the occasion.
