Shahid to open women’s tournament today


QCA-1 registered a narrow eight runs win over MES club in the Qatar Cricket Association Women’s Cricket Tournament played at QCA West Bay Cricket Ground.

MES won the toss and sent their opponent to make first use of the wicket.

QCA – 1 , piled up 112 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing three wickets. A magnificent knock of 40 runs by Sajida Bibi with four boundaries saw her being declared as player-of-the-match.

Miria Raju and Pamela D’Souza bagged two and one wicket respectively for MES Club.

Chasing a target of 112, MES Club started innings with Ishanni and Sweenyd. The two batted well to give a good start for MES. Ishanni score 19 while Ayesha scored 21 runs but were bowled out for a total of 104 runs.

Sajida Bibi and Zohra Tahir bagged two wicket’s apiece while Anthea Fernades and Sujjatha claimed one wicket each for QCA one.

Earlier, the Women Cricket Tournament was inaugurated by QCA President M.A.Shahid in the presence of Manzoor Ahmed, General Secretary of QCA and other officials of QCA. The other school teams participating in this tournament were also present for the opening ceremony. DPS Modern Indian School, Bright      Future  Pakistani School, MES Indian School, Pak Shama School & College and Al Khor International School children were present.
